Message from the Executive Director

  • We have accomplished much over the last thirty years. However, we cannot convey to you that we have been on a cruise, for there have been strong currents, dashing waves, turbulent waters and contrary winds. Though the forces against us have at times been torrential, none have been defeating. We have managed to continue to move forward and serve.

We have increased in volunteerism, program support and participation level. Our programming is evidence of a rise in interest in our philosophy which has, step by step, brought us to the vantage point we now hold. To you, our supporters, we take this time to embrace you all whenever and wherever you have come on board. We are grateful because you care enough to see that Yates holds fast to its course and we continue to expand our programs. The renovation of our new home is completed.

The last thirty years have allowed me to experience and face situations that I thought I could not overcome; but instead, I conquered each and everyone with the help of God, the Almighty, and you - our supporters. It was also at these times that it became more evident to me that closed doors lead to opened windows.

My appreciation is expressed to our very able and compassionate Board President who has lent strong, firm and effective support and leadership. I salute the Board of Directors, staff and the many individuals, businesses, churches, organizations and other entities which have provided valuable support and contributions to our existence.

As we undertake a new renovation expansion project we again appeal to your sense of charity by asking for your help to complete this task. Service to the community cannot be effectively achieved without incurring some costs, just as dreams cannot be realized without diligent effort. Your gifts of time, money, and on-going support are what help us to call our dreams realities and continue to channel our shared compassion into impacting change.

As we continue on our journey of attending to the needs of our community, we assess our past and plan our future with an air of urgency and expectant hope. We assure you, our supporters, that our plans will be carefully laid with as much insightfulness, thoroughness and professionalism as successful planning dictates.
